Jennifer Downing, Executive Director
Jennifer Downing is Leadership SouthCoast’s first full-time Executive Director. Before becoming LSC’s executive director, she served on the organization’s Board of Directors for four years; two of those years she served as Chair of the Board. Jennifer has over 14 years of experience working within the non-profit sector. A good portion of those years were spent in philanthropy working for the Garfield Foundation, a private foundation that awards over $2 million annually in national and local grants. While at the Foundation she fulfilled two roles: Operations Manager and Program Officer for the New Bedford Fund, a place-based grant portfolio supporting economic and community development projects in Greater New Bedford, Massachusetts. In 2011, Jennifer was selected as one of New England Business Bulletin’s Top Young Professionals Under 40. She is proud to have participated in the 2012 PLACES (Professionals Learning About Community, Equity & Smart Growth) Fellowship, a year-long philanthropic leadership development program of the Funders’ Network for Smart Growth and Livable Communities. She currently serves on the Board of the United Way of Greater New Bedford. Jennifer’s past work experience includes, Assistant Director for Brick by Brick, a local nonprofit organization providing support services to area at-risk youth; and Teacher of Wareham Community Junior/Senior High School’s alternative education program focused on character education and experiential learning. Jennifer enjoys practicing and teaching yoga; she is a certified instructor and in her free time teaches classes locally. She holds a BFA from Marymount Manhattan College in New York City and an MA in Leadership, Public Policy and Social Issues from Union Institute & University, where she studied collaborative leadership and multi-sector collaborative process.
Tracy McNeil, Marketing Communications Manager
Tracy McNeil is Leadership SouthCoast’s Marketing Communications Manager. She’s a communications professional with experience in internal and external communications and joined LSC from Lockheed Martin where she most recently worked in branding and marketing communications. In her new role, Tracy is responsible for LSC’s strategic communications planning and marketing communications as well as the organization’s administrative activities.
Tracy is a member of Leadership SouthCoast’s class of 2013 and served on the organization’s Board of Directors from 2013 to 2016. She holds a bachelor’s degree in writing from the State University of New York at Potsdam and a master’s degree in professional writing from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. She has also earned a certificate in corporate citizenship management from Boston College’s Center for Corporate Citizenship.
